Child Safety in the Car Park

The club received a complaint yesterday from St. Anthony's School after cars were manoevring in the car park while the school's boys were arriving and, later, leaving. One car had to be stopped to ensure the boys were safe.

Please ensure that, if you are in your car in the car park while children are coming or going, you wait until the children have left the car park before driving the car.

Aside from use by the schools, the drive and car park are always shared spaces with adult and child pedestrians, so please drive slowly and with due consideration at all times (as most do).

Sunday 2nd July

Dear tennis members,

Please join us on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd July at 2pm for a picnic, mini Sports Day, and a farewell to Angus.

Yes, you may have heard the sad news that Angus is leaving us for a Canadian adventure. The second biggest land mass on the planet, Angus has been entertaining us at Brondesbury for 24 years. As a doubles player his skills are legendary, and if you check the LTA website you’ll see that his forehand is classified as a dangerous weapon. Those of us lucky enough to have witnessed his development into captaincy and coaching have seen a unique talent, matched with kindness and humour, whether he is instructing beginners, juniors or senior players.

So, having reached our club ceiling, he’s off seal clubbing. And hopefully the experience of a lifetime. Please join us as we wave goodbye to a much-valued member of the Brondesbury family.

The doubles ladder is now live!

Please log in to Playwaze to see your placement here https://playwaze.com/brondesbury-tennis-club/5j8vlxed5hb6u/ladder-display/o3hr23iltf.  A paper copy will also be available to view in the clubhouse.

You are able to challenge pairs one or two rungs above you - you are responsible for organising your own games. The ladder is set to be best of one set, but of course you are free to arrange to play best of 3 sets instead. If you've been challenged to a game and repeatedly cancel, then you may find you get dropped down a few rungs!

Contact details for each member are available on Playwaze, so you should be able to find contacts for your opponents there, but if you have any doubts just ask me ([email protected]).

If there are more pairs who would like to participate but who have missed the deadline, there will be a short pause later in the month to add in more.

I hope that's all clear and enjoy!

Last call for the Ladder

Entries will close soon for the doubles ladder, so make sure you're signed up with your partner to take part.

Reminder - Mix n Match

There's a Mix N Match tournament at the club this Sunday at 2pm. Come along and enjoy some social tennis and chat to other members.

Doubles Ladder Reminder

Just a quick reminder that entries are open on PlayWaze for the club doubles ladder. Entries close at the end of the month, so make sure you've signed up before then. Any questions or problems do email me, Nicola Hands,  on [email protected]. It would be great to get as many pairs as possible taking part.

Mix 'n' Match 30 April

On Sunday, 30th April, we will be hosting a social mix 'n' match tournament at the club from 2-4pm. Just turn up, and we'll mix everyone around for a few rounds of competitive tennis. There may be a prize for the winner...

This is a great way to get some practice in as well as meet other members of the club, so do come along. Feel free to bring any food and drink as we tend to stay around and make a social of it afterwards.
